Schiwoche, accidents and Schladming [PART 1]

Sorry guys, beforehand, if this post is quite short because I've just about written this post 3 times but then the past three times have failed so having to do it again becomes quite irritating after a while! But here it goes once more! (It doesn't lessen how awesome the ski week was though!)

So the week started with the whole family packing up to go! Though my host family wasn't going with me to ski camp in Schladming, they were also going on a 3 day ski trip to Leicht, Sophie's future home. So here is Maurice all geared up in his new skiwear. This is for the next winter, so that's why it looks incredibly large on him. He wasn't actually wearing it for the ski camp but he loves it so much that in the beginning he would parade around it. Lol

The long train ride to Schladming begins!

And this is our room! I shared with Sophie and it was so small! Everyday, I swear, I would hit something and make another memorable bruise on my body! Haha

Upon entering the Argentinian guy's room, I stumbled upon this sight...

This is the exchange students going crazy. As all the newbies and oldies meet for the first time. And just the plain excitement of being all together! :D

Our first dinner!

I initially didn't take any photos when I skiied the first time, because I wasn't sure how many times I would hence damage or break my camera. But in the afternoon, I hanged around and decided no to go skiing. Because after our first skiing lesson everyone had a MASSIVE snowball fight. It was a bad idea for me to chuck them as when I threw on at Ben, from Canada, he tackled me to the ground and my leg was twisted at an awkward angle! So I decided to rest it since it was still sore and wander around the town for a while!

This is the photo of our hotel! It technically was not in Schladming but up in the mountains, not too far from the place we were skiing but far enough that we hated the idea of walking to the skiing place with our skiis, sticks and ski boots!

Ana, Sophie and Jackie talking! This is after I freaked because I couldn't find Sophie at our first lunch! Apparently, she and Erin missed the bus and were walking around, trying to find the hotel the whole time everyone was having lunch.

Accidentally, while attempting to look around, we ended up at our skiing place... (the picture above)! Regardless, we had fun in the one and only shop that was there!

This is how we travel by bus with our skis!

On the first night, we went to watch a ski snow in Schladming and it was spectacular! There were lots of people who skiied down this really steep slow and performed so many routines! Photos simply does not explain how amazing it was but hopefully it conveys some of the awesomeness we witnessed that night!

A group of men wearing traditional Austrian clothing, skiing down and then performed a traditional dance! Though it was quite hilarious as one guy in particular didn't have a great sense of balance and kept slipping!

And we even had our own Mozart! (Traveled back in time)

So many children participated in the show! And two dressed up as a penguin and a rabbit in a fully clothed costume! The rabbit managed to go down the hill fine, but the penguin failed and ended up rolling down the hill with elegance! Haha!

Fireworks!

Yes somehow this massive truck thing came down the steep hill with sparklers flowing out!

And so began the 2nd day where this time, I was brave enough to bring my camera! Though I rarely had time to take photos of when I was actually skiing!

I swear this group of children were so good!

This is where we skiied down the second day. It may not look that steep but it's deceiving you! The people seen in the photo is the other group of beginner skiiers!

In the afternoon on the second day, we originally (we being Larry, Jackie, Bek and I) went to find if we could horseride since next to the hotel were horses available, however we failed to find the man in charge and consented to playing in the playground that was there for children!

That's Jackie, taking a glamourous photos with the boars there! They were so hairy and had CURLY HAIR! And if you can see clearly it is blond!

Haha! This was a great time when we found that in the house/shed thing there were chickens. And as a joke, I said go inside! To my surprise Jackie did, and try to catch one for fun! I think she gave one of the chickens a heart attack! Because after she left, one chicken kept sqawking at random intervals! She probably scarred that chicken for life! Haha!

That night, we went to the Rotary meeting in Schladming and just hung around while the Rotarians had beer and chatted!

The next three photos are dedicated to all the asians out there! Haha!

Unfortunately, this is where it stops because this blog has stopped allowing me to upload photos because apparently I have used up all my free storage! So if anyone has any other solutions then please comment! I tried to upload onto photobucket and then transferring from there, however, to upload photos I would have to go to each individual site for each photo, while in here I could just do it in bulk!!! Hopefully I'll find some way to post photos!

Anyways,

With love, from Austria

Vivian

  1. You can upload photos into facebook albums and provide the 'share with public' link, or you can take down the file size to a few kilobytes? That's what I did when I realised they had file size restrictions.
